CNC Milling

Precision 4-axis horizontal machining built for production.

Montgomery Precision operates a Fortune HV500 horizontal machining center equipped with a Fanuc 18-M control.

The machine is built for rigid, repeatable production machining and is well suited for complex components, multi-sided work, and demanding materials. Its horizontal configuration, rotary B-axis, pallet system, and robust construction make it a strong platform for both precision work and production-oriented machining.

Fortune HV500 horizontal machining center

Rigidity, stability, repeatability.

Our Fortune HV500 provides the rigidity and stability required for demanding milling operations while maintaining the repeatability needed for production work.

Key capabilities include:

  • 4-axis machining with integrated B-axis rotary table
  • Twin-pallet horizontal machining configuration
  • Multi-sided machining
  • Multi-part tombstone setups
  • Precision contouring
  • Heavy-duty material removal
  • Production-oriented machining
  • Repeatable positioning for complex components

The horizontal platform allows multiple faces of a component to be machined in a single setup, reducing handling and helping maintain dimensional relationships between critical features.

Work envelope & machine capacity

Room for medium-to-large components.

The Fortune HV500 provides a substantial machining envelope for medium-to-large precision components and multi-part production setups.

The large work envelope, combined with horizontal machining and rotary positioning, allows us to accommodate a wide range of prismatic components, fixtures, and multi-part production arrangements.

Precision B-axis machining

Positioning within approximately 0.0002 inch.

Our B-axis rotary system is capable of positioning within approximately 0.0002 inch under our current machine setup and operating conditions.

This capability supports:

  • Multi-sided machining
  • Rotational feature alignment
  • Complex part indexing
  • Tight feature-to-feature relationships
  • Reduced part handling
  • Repeatable production setups

For parts requiring machining on multiple faces, the B-axis allows the component to remain fixtured while additional surfaces are indexed into position.

Fanuc 18-M CNC control

Reliable multi-axis control.

The Fortune HV500 is controlled by a Fanuc 18-M CNC system designed for reliable multi-axis machining and high-speed program processing.

Our control configuration supports:

  • Simultaneous X, Y, Z, and B-axis control
  • High-speed look-ahead processing
  • Feed optimization
  • Automatic corner slowdown
  • Acceleration and deceleration control
  • Complex CNC programs
  • Macro programming
  • Custom machining logic
  • Subroutines and automated programming strategies

Look-ahead capability allows the control to evaluate upcoming toolpath movements and optimize machine motion before the cutter reaches changes in direction. This helps improve contour accuracy, reduce abrupt motion, and produce cleaner, more consistent finishes during complex machining.

Materials we machine

Light alloys to demanding steels.

We have successfully machined a range of metals and engineering materials on our horizontal machining center, including:

Annealed steels Pre-hardened steels Aluminum Engineering plastics Other materials evaluated on a project-specific basis

The machine's rigid construction allows us to approach both lighter materials and demanding steels with stable cutting conditions and controlled material removal.

Built for repeatable production

More than a general-purpose mill.

The Fortune HV500 is a robust and rigid horizontal machining center designed around production efficiency. Its horizontal configuration and rotary pallet system make it especially useful for:

  • Repeat production
  • Multi-part fixtures
  • Tombstone machining
  • High-mix, low-volume production
  • Short production runs
  • Long production runs
  • Complex components
  • Parts requiring multiple machining orientations

The machine can support multiple components or multiple operations within a single setup, helping reduce setup time and improve consistency from part to part.

Precision, finish & repeatability

Clean finishes, consistent parts.

A rigid machine structure, controlled toolpaths, B-axis positioning, and Fanuc motion control allow us to produce parts with clean finishes and strong repeatability.

Our focus is on producing parts that are:

  1. 01

    Dimensionally consistent

  2. 02

    Repeatable from cycle to cycle

  3. 03

    Cleanly machined

  4. 04

    Stable across multiple setups

  5. 05

Suitable for prototype and production requirements

The result is a machining platform capable of producing precise, repeatable components while maintaining the durability and rigidity required for production environments.
